This October was a big month for Right to Dream Egypt with lots to celebrate on and off the pitch.
• There was huge excitement and enthusiasm as the first students began their 2022-23 academic year in Cairo.
• We launched our first professional women’s team in Egypt, convincingly winning 4-0 on their debut.
• We planted the grass seeds for our pitches at our new state-of-the-art Academy facility in Egypt.
Our new academy students
The talented students who have joined us kicked off their academic semester early with football practice at 6:15am. The energy was high throughout as students got to know their classmates on the pitch which was fitting with this month’s learning topic – Teamwork.
The students also took their first steps into the classrooms, as well as taking part in an important character-building and development program that prepares them to become resilient future leaders and helps them kick off their journeys toward their respective dreams and pathways.
The journeys of the 28 boys aged 10-16 years old began with a dynamic and comprehensive talent search, which saw 35,000 young people participate. The Right to Dream scouting team, consisted of experts across football, education, character, and pastoral, covering an area of 20,000KM over 75 days.
Our new team
We are so proud to launch our new women’s team in Egypt, TUT FC, who are one of the very few full professional women’s teams on the continent. This has long been a shared ambition for the Right to Dream and Mansour Group partnership. A landmark moment in North African women’s football, the team went on to win their first match convincingly 4-0.
TUT FC will begin their journey in the Egyptian Premier League next month and the development of the women’s game will continue, with our first intake of girls in the Egypt Academy by 2025. Right to Dream have ambitious plans to positively impact the women’s game in Egypt.
Our new facility
Right now, the Egypt Academy has 28 student-athletes. But this is just the beginning. More talent will be joining the academy in the coming months. These students will continue their development in the brand new facility set to open in West Cairo in 2023. This week marked an important milestone for the construction as the seeds for the three new pitches have been planted. The seeds will take 60 days to transform into the pitches that the students will flourish on, and the pitches will become the home of many great moments for students across all Right to Dream academies when they come to visit Cairo.
On November 3rd, Right to Dream will showcase our plans for the ground-breaking academy at a special event at the amazing Pyramids of Giza. Hosting over 100 guests, we will share our vision of Right To Dream Egypt and celebrate our student-athletes from the region.
The event will provide an opportunity to share what makes the Right to Dream Academy model so successful, based on a holistic approach of character development, football development, and education. We believe it’s this approach that enables our young people to thrive.
We’ll regularly post more updates about Right to Dream Egypt here and on our social media pages.
