SAN DIEGO FC

In 2024, Right to Dream expanded its model to San Diego, as Major League Soccer (MLS) has awarded the city an expansion team, San Diego FC. The club is owned by the Chairman of Man Capital and Investor/Chairman of Right to Dream, Mr. Mohamed Mansour, and the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation.

San Diego FC, the 30th MLS franchise, calls Snapdragon Stadium their home and made their MLS debut on February 23, 2025, with a 2–0 win against defending champions LA Galaxy.

The club builds upon the solid foundations laid by Right to Dream graduates, who have brought their skills and passion to MLS over the past decade. It introduces a new pathway for young talents within and beyond the Right to Dream Academy to pursue their professional football dreams.

San Diego FC’s commitment to player development and long-term impact aligns seamlessly with the core ethos of Right to Dream. This powerful synergy is laying the foundation for a supportive environment where talents can thrive, leaving a lasting mark on the pro football stage.

The club’s inaugural squad featured players from across the Right to Dream community, including Marcus Ingvartsen, a graduate of FCN academy and a former FC Nordsjælland player, Emmanuel Boateng, a graduate of the Ghana Academy who pursued the international-student athlete pathway before turning pro, and Willy Kumado, another Ghana Academy grad who followed the pro football pathway and developed further at FC Nordsjælland.

At the helm of this new chapter is CEO Tom Penn, a visionary sports executive with a wealth of experience and an unwavering passion for the game. His expertise and deep understanding of the sports industry ensures that San Diego FC is well-positioned to become the epicenter of football excellence and innovation in North America.

"We will deliver sustained excellence on the field, unprecedented investment in player development and create a shared, joyous experience for fans at Snapdragon Stadium, one of the premier soccer venues in professional soccer.”
