MARCUS INGVARTSEN
SAN DIEGO FC
Marcus Ingvartsen is a graduate of the FCN Academy in Denmark and a Danish international currently playing for MLS side San Diego FC.
He began his journey with the Right to Dream community as a young player, developing through the Denmark Academy before making the leap to the FC Nordsjælland first team.
Ingvartsen made his first team debut in the 2014-15 season and went on to score a total of 53 goals in 136 appearances during his time with the club. He finished as the Danish Superliga’s top scorer in the 2016–17 season and was named Young Player of the Year.
His journey then took him to Belgium’s Genk and later to the German Bundesliga, where he represented Union Berlin and Mainz 05. In 2023, he rejoined FC Nordsjaelland in 2023 where he made an immediate impact scoring six goals in eight UEFA Europa League matches, while adding another six goals in 16 Superliga contests.
In 2024, Ingvartsen joined the newest addition to the Right to Dream community: San Diego FC. As a member of the club’s inaugural MLS squad, his experience and long-term development within the Right to Dream system proved invaluable. His deep familiarity with the playing style, values, and culture were key both on and off the pitch.
On the international stage, Ingvartsen made his senior debut for Denmark in March 2021, scoring in a World Cup qualifier against Moldova. He is also the all-time top scorer for Denmark’s U21 team, with 17 goals in 28 appearances.
