PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE COACH (NATIONAL SERVICE /INTERNSHIP)

The Physical Performance Coach (National Service/Intern) plays an important role in supporting the physical, mental, and long-term development of our youth athletes. The role involves providing practical support, guidance, and mentorship, while helping to maintain a safe, supportive, and development-focused environment for student-athletes.
The position also requires daily collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to the holistic development of each athlete.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Player-Facing Responsibilities
• Contribute to the overall athletic development of all Academy and First Team student-athletes.
• Support the planning and delivery of gym-based sessions tailored to strength, endurance, and injury prevention, under the guidance of the Academy Physical Performance Coach and the Head of Human Performance.
• Support the planning and delivery of physical development drills, warm-ups, and individual pitch-based sessions.
• Support physical testing and data entry to monitor progress and inform adjustments to player development plans.
• Assist in the continuous development of a supportive, safe, and growth-focused environment.
Administration
• Support the accurate, secure, and timely documentation of all physical testing metrics, in line with organisational best practice and the requirements of the Head of Human Performance.
• Assist with reporting data for all student-athletes for both football-specific and general development purposes.
• Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the gym space, including supporting monthly inventory checks under the guidance of the Academy Physical Performance Coach.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science, or an equivalent qualification.
• Eligible for National Service appointment in Ghana.
• Professional certifications in relevant fields are desirable but not required.
• Fluency in written and spoken English is required; proficiency in French would be an added advantage.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Experience
• Experience or exposure in strength and conditioning, and physical development.
• General knowledge of football.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, coaches, and other relevant stakeholders.
Knowledge and Skills
• General knowledge of injury prevention, strength and conditioning, and long-term athletic development frameworks.
• Understanding of strength and conditioning principles.
• Knowledge of multidisciplinary teams and the role they play in wider athletic development.
• Awareness of nutrition and hydration strategies to optimise performance.
• Familiarity with performance testing and accurate data entry, with strong attention to detail.
• Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and medical standards within sports environments.
