More good news from Egypt!
Only one day after a magnificent press conference that kicked off the Right to Dream Egypt journey, TUT FC – part of the Right to Dream Group - enjoyed a fantastic start to life in the Egyptian Women’s Premier League.
With former Egypt women’s national team head coach Ahmed Ramadan at the helm, the team started their exciting journey on the right foot. The girls won their first-ever game in the top-flight 2-1 against Gomhoryet Shebin at home, thanks to goals from up-and-coming talents Fatma Mostafa and Hamsa Asaad (Way To Go, Girls!).
This marked the league debut for Mostafa & Asaad who were scouted at RTD scouting events in Beni Suef & Damietta, respectively.
The club, which was recently acquired by RTD, has one of the very few fully professional women’s teams on the continent. And while it’s playing its first season at the top-tier, its goals go far beyond. The young team eyes qualification to the CAF Champions League next year and lifting the African title in three years.
TUT FC is another example of RTD’s unwavering commitment to the women’s game, which saw us establish women’s teams and academies in our main markets.
It all started less than a decade ago with a residential girls’ academy in Ghana. The one-of-a-kind project in the continent grew to develop dozens of girls and women who currently play at schools and universities in the US + Princess who joined Danish side FCN to become our first women to play professionally in Europe (the first of many more to come!).
And in 2016, we started a women’s team at FCN that was promoted three seasons in a row to become a top-flight side. Meanwhile, our academy in Denmark is regarded as one of the best in Scandinavia.
And as we seek to play a leading role in elevating the standards and conditions of women’s football, we’ll next be looking to launch a residential girls’ academy in Egypt.
