After a fantastic stint at FC Nordsjælland that saw him develop into an exceptional young player, Andreas Schjelderup takes the next big step in his career by joining Portuguese side SL Benfica.

When Andreas made the decision of joining FCN 2.5 years ago, he wasn’t looking to settle for just any side. He chose FCN over many of the biggest names in football.

The young talent was looking for a club with a culture and environment that supports young players’ development and nurtures their talents. And he found that FCN is just the right place to do so.

“FCN will always have a special place in the hearts of me and my family. They believed in me from the very beginning. I have great faith in the project here in FC Nordsjælland and I’ve felt the same confidence the other way. So, it’s been a perfect match," Andreas said.

"A special thank you goes to my teammates and to Flemming Pedersen who means a lot me and my development,” he added.

Playing at a club with a culture rooted in youth development – FCN field the youngest top-tier squad in the world - has provided Andreas with opportunities like none other. The club offered him a perfect platform to showcase his potential, and it was key to his growth both on and off the pitch.

The Norwegian winger made his debut with the club at the age of 16. He has since played 56 official matches, scored 17 goals, and became the youngest player ever to score a Superliga goal for FCN. And today, he leaves FCN as league leaders while he's the top scorer and best player in the Danish Superliga this fall – all while only 18.

“Andreas is a very special man with an incredibly strong set of values that have aligned well with ours from the first to the last day. He has committed himself to the club and has been a role model for all young players,” FCN Sporting Director Laursen said.

We’ve watched Andreas grow and rise into a fantastic player. And while we’ll miss seeing him at Right to Dream Park, we’ll continue to follow his career and cheer for him as he develops towards his goal of becoming a world class player – we know it’s no longer a far-fetched dream.

Goodluck, Andreas!
