Mohammed Abu is a tenacious midfielder currently playing for Major League Soccer side Columbus Crew as well as for the Ghana national team.

After several years at the Academy, Abu signed for Premier League giants Manchester City before spending time on loan at Norwegian club Strømsgodset, Rayo Vallecano, FC Lorient and Eintracht Frankfurt. After these loan spells, Strømsgodset signed Abu permanently and he went on to make 82 appearances over three seasons.

In January 2017, he was transferred to MLS side Columbus Crew, establishing himself as a regular in the first team squad.

Abu made his first senior appearance for Ghana in October 2011, in a 0–0 friendly draw against Nigeria. In December 2011, he was named in the Ghana national team provisional 25-man squad for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, and in January 2012 he was selected for the tournament's 23-man squad.

More recently, Abu was selected in Kwesi Appiah's AFCON Qulaifier squad that faced Ethiopia on June 11 2017.
