Academy Physiotherapist, Ghana
Right to Dream Academy is seeking an academy physiotherapist to join our Department of Human Performance to provide medical care at Africa’s leading football academy and play an integral role in player development as part of our collaborative sports medicine team.
The selected candidate will operate across the continuum of injury risk reduction, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement. We are seeking a physiotherapist skilled in injury diagnosis, rehabilitation, and sideline management. The selected candidate will also have opportunities to assist with strength and conditioning and sports science initiatives.
KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Degree in Physiotherapy/Physical Therapy (minimum Bachelor’s; Master’s preferred)
At least 1 year of relevant experience in a sports setting.
Ability to work as a part of a team.
Highly motivated and able to adapt.
Ability to think on his/her feet in a challenging environment.
Background/experience in Strength & Conditioning and/or Sports Science.
Work experience with youth athletes
Experience with data collection/research.
Experience communicating with coaches and stakeholders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead physiotherapist for the U16 (Advanced) squad
Lead squad warmups and pitch-based fitness
Assist with carrying out strength and conditioning initiatives
Assist with sport science and data collection initiatives
Assist with carrying out training periodisation initiatives
Assist with monitoring and reporting GPS data
Work in collaboration with other members of the medical department
General responsibilities of the sports medicine team
Assist with physiotherapist duties for other squads as needed
Provide skilled physiotherapy services to injured athletes
Implement and contribute to the student development plan
Assist in performance testing and ongoing data collection
Contribute to the physical performance aspects of the Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for your players
Understand and implement the organisation’s Best Practice models for rehabilitation and physical performance
Documentation using the athlete monitoring system
Accompany academy students on medical trips as necessary
Assist with and provide guidance to pastoral staff for general first aid/medical needs with the students
