programme philosophy
A commitment to excellence remains the common theme that runs throughout the whole Academy and we ensure that all the values that we promote in other areas are reinforced and practically demonstrated in our football development programme.
Our football programme is designed to meet the needs of our pupils at their different development stages, with a large emphasis on the technical development of our talented athletes. The programme is comprised of three squads (U12, U14 and U17) who all undertake between 12 and 18 hours of training time per week dependant on age. Training includes technical work, tactical work, personal training, position specific training, matches, conditioning work, co-ordination & stabilization work and classroom based activities including video analysis and football based discussions.
The competitive programme consists of matches against high quality local junior teams, West African academies and junior national teams. Teams regularly travel to Europe to compete in tournaments against the very best youth teams from across the world, which is of key importance for their development. Selected players also have the opportunities to travel to elite European teams on a regular basis for training attachments, experiencing and learning from the different football and lifestyle cultures on offer.
recruitment
Every 18 months, recruitment of a new generation of players at the U12 level takes place within Ghana. During this recruitment programme, over 15,000 young boys are given the opportunity to earn a life-changing scholarship by impressing the dedicated team of scouts who travel the length and breadth of the country. The recruitment philosophy of the academy is based heavily on three areas: sporting ability, academic ability and character.
