Right To Dream nurturing sporting talent in Africa

US Boarding Schools Continue to Support Right to Dream Students

In March, three students at the Right to Dream Academy— Emmanuel Boateng, Ibrahim Mutala and Isaac Normesinu—were offered full scholarships to attend leading boarding schools in America. Now the boys are preparing to move to the States in August, and are reflecting on their time spent at the Academy.

Former Academy Captain and Team Captain Emmanuel Boateng will travel to California to attend Cate School (based near Santa Barbara); he will be the first Academy graduate to attend Cate. When asked how he felt when offered the scholarship, Ema said, I was very happy, in fact no words can express the joy I had. I told my parents that evening and of course they were very, very happy! My aim is to exhibit a good attitude when I get there, achieve everything that is expected of me and more, and apply all the moral values that I have been taught in the Academy.”

Former Academy Co-Captain Ibrahim Mutala will travel to Connecticut to accept a scholarship from Kent School, joining Academy graduates Bernard Abagali and Umar Abdul Gafaru. Mutala (Ibrahim’s preferred name) is looking forward to the challenge that awaits him: “I was very pleased when Kent School offered me the opportunity to pursue my education. I am prepared to face the challenge ahead of me and make the most out of my ability. I have learnt so much during my time at the Academy, and being the Academy Captain has helped me to grow and lead by example. I would like to say thank you to Kent School, the Right to Dream staff in and outside of Ghana, and the entire Right to Dream family!’

Former Academy Co-Captain Isaac Normesinu will also travel to Connecticut to study at the renowned Hotchkiss School. Isaac will join Academy graduates Nathaniel Bekoe, Atobra Ampadu, James Nortey and Mohammed Abdul Rashid who already attend Hotchkiss. Isaac explained how happy he was to receive the scholarship offer: “When I was given the opportunity to further my education at Hotchkiss, I was overjoyed because I would say it is my greatest achievement. I am very pleased, and I would like to thank the Right to Dream staff for preparing me and my colleagues who helped me get this opportunity. This scholarship is very special and I will make the most of the opportunity—I will make the Academy, my family, Ghana and, of course, Hotchkiss proud.”

RtD would like to offer our very sincere thanks to all three schools for the very special opportunities they are offering Ema, Mutala and Isaac.
