SEVEN-A-SIDE FOOTBALL HAS NEVER BEEN SO EXCITING!
August 2010
THE Right to Dream Academy in partnership with Vodafone continued their winning ways last week-end when they hosted the Ghana qualifiers of the United for Peace Football Tournament organised in conjunction with VIASAT1.
Fipacum United; Sparks FC; Dread FC; Great Wonders FC and Zaragoza FC joined Right to Dream for the seven-a-side tournament to decide the Ghana spot for the MTG World Peace Cup held in connection with the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize Winner in Oslo, Norway this October.
The six teams were organised into two groups of three with every team playing each other once. The top two teams from each group progressed to the semi-finals.
Right to Dream shared their skills and provided a masterclass in the final match against Fipacum United with a convincing 3:0 win.
Right to Dream also cleared the board with the Individual Awards going to Zakyi for the Player of the Tournament; Ernest for the Player of the Match (final) and Zakyi also took the Golden Boot award as Top Goal Scorer of the Tournament with 10 goals.
Academy Manager Andy Farrant was delighted with his team's performance, "Everyone performed well and we were very pleased with the overall performance of our boys - but to be perfectly honest this was a real eye opener for the other teams. We were pleased to be able to share the incredible talent of our boys and, despite the other teams' obvious disappointment at losing, we hope they will be able to take something positive away with them - and learn from the experience.
"We are now looking forward to travelling to Manchester for the World Finals of the Manchester United Premier Cup - where we will face some incredibly tough opposition. The boys are certainly ready for the challenges ahead!"
The team travelling to Manchester comprises youngsters selected from across the country at previous trials to join the Academy on five-year academic & football scholarships. Dates and countrywide locations for the next series of trials for the Right to Dream Academy in partnership with Vodafone will be available shortly.

About the Right to Dream Academy www.righttodream.com
An NGO and registered Charity in the UK, US, Sierra Leone & Ghana, the Right to Dream Academy (RtD) was founded in 1999 to offer talented but underprivileged children the opportunity to fulfill their true potential in life.
To date, three RtD graduates have signed professional contracts for European Clubs - one turning out for the Black Stars at just 19 years-of-age; and a further 21 continue their studies whilst furthering their football ambitions on full scholarships at leading universities, private boarding schools and colleges in the US and the UK. Other RtD graduates either work within the sports industry or have secured contracts with Ghanaian Premier League clubs. In addition to mentoring students at the Academy, they also assist at local development projects on a voluntary basis.
This year the Right to Dream Academy and Vodafone Ghana signed a three year partnership agreement, enabling RtD to continue to deliver world class coaching and a specialised programme of personal development, education and leadership skills to some of the brightest but underprivileged young football prospects in Ghana.
Vodafone's endorsement of the unique Right to Dream philosophy promoting excellence and self sustainability allows the children of Ghana an unparalleled opportunity to study at an elite sports academy with a strong focus on education and ethics. The love of football has driven this project and will continue to give the children of Ghana the future they so richly deserve.
