RtD Graduate Wins European Title
OLD AKRADI November 2010
In August of this year, Right to Dream graduate Mohammed Abu, went on loan from Manchester City to play for the Norwegian Premier League club, Stromsgodset. After a very successful season, Stromsgodset were victorious in last weekend’s Norwegian Cup Final beating Follo FK 2-0 and winning the tournament for the fifth time in the club’s history.
Mohammed Abu, a dynamic, touch-tackling midfielder, formed part of the winning squad becoming Right to Dream’s first graduate to win any European silverware. “It was a very good experience for me to be involved in a final of this scale – the atmosphere at the stadium was just amazing. Although I didn’t play in the final, I felt very proud to be a part of the winning squad at such a young age and hope that I will have many more experiences like this”, said Abu.
Joe Mulberry, Head of Scouting for Right to Dream Academy in partnership with Vodafone Ghana, was fortunate to be present at the exciting final. "It was a very special day for Abu and for the Academy as a whole. Although he did not feature in the final itself, he has made a massive impression at the club since arriving from Manchester City. Stromsgodset is an excellent club with a great manager, a very competitive squad and enthusiastic fans. Abu has settled very well and is looking forward to the new season already. He is an exemplary role model for our current students and continues to provide them and the staff with daily motivation".
Right to Dream Academy in partnership with Vodafone Ghana would like to extend our congratulations to both Mohammed Abu and Stromsgodset for their fantastic achievement.

NOTE TO EDITORS
This year the Right to Dream Academy signed a three-year partnership agreement with Vodafone Ghana, enabling RtD to continue to deliver world class coaching and a specialised programme of personal development, education and leadership skills to some of the brightest but underprivileged young football prospects in Ghana.
To date, four RtD graduates have signed professional contracts for European Clubs – two senior internationals, one turning out for the Black Stars at just 19 years-of-age, three junior internationals; and a further 24 continue their studies whilst furthering their football ambitions on full scholarships at leading universities, private boarding schools and colleges in the US and the UK. Other RtD graduates either work within the sports industry or have secured contracts with Ghanaian Premier League clubs. In addition to mentoring students at the Academy, they also assist at local development projects on a voluntary basis.
