RtD - Back to School Awards
October 2010
AS STAFF and students start a new school year, the Right to Dream Academy (RtD) in partnership with Vodafone is pleased to announce the new Academy Captain and Academy Vice-Captain for the coming year.
• New Academy Captain: Francis
• New Academy Vice-Captain: Sirdick
Headmaster Dr George Jamieson confirmed, "Senior Management met with former Academy Captain Joshua and his Vice-Captain Moro before they left to take up scholarships in the US and discussed various candidates at length. Francis and Sirdick will be encouraged to demonstrate and further develop their leadership potential over the coming year as they grow to meet challenges head on whilst maintaining the highest standards in all areas of daily life at the Academy.
"We are also pleased to confirm that, as part of our continuing programme of development for students in the classroom as well as on the pitch, the Academy has been awarded accreditation as an Attached Centre for the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
"In reality this means that our students can now sit their examinations in familiar surroundings on site, and is testimony to the professionalism of both our staff and of operations at the Academy. We will continue to provide a first-class education to our students and, with increased access to resources and support from the British Council in Accra, can now also provide an improved route for staff development."

NOTE TO EDITORS
This year the Right to Dream Academy signed a three-year partnership agreement with Vodafone Ghana, enabling RtD to continue to deliver world class coaching and a specialised programme of personal development, education and leadership skills to some of the brightest but underprivileged young football prospects in Ghana.
To date, fourRtD graduates have signed professional contracts for European Clubs - two senior internationals, one turning out for the Black Stars at just 19 years-of-age, three junior internationals; and a further 24 continue their studies whilst furthering their football ambitions on full scholarships at leading universities, private boarding schools and colleges in the US and the UK. Other RtD graduates either work within the sports industry or have secured contracts with Ghanaian Premier League clubs. In addition to mentoring students at the Academy, they also assist at local development projects on a voluntary basis.
